Amanda Meek Linden has been painting for over 20 years, exploring various styles and mediums. She works in oil, acrylic, and watercolor. Her landscapes are inspired by the beauty of California, where she has lived all her life, and also her travels across the US and abroad.
Her paintings are done out of her studio and based on photographs she has taken of meaningful shapes and compositions she observes in nature. She explores the boundaries between abstraction and representation in her work.
She has shown in galleries across the bay area and Northern California and is inspired by current artists like Mitchell Johnson, Kathleen Kolb, Margaret Gerding, and Penny Billings as well as classic modern abstract and expressionists like Rothko, Diebenkorn, and Berthe Morisot.
Amanda grew up near Mt. Shasta and worked for the Klamath National Forest Service while going to university, developing a deep appreciation for the beauty of the landscapes surrounding her. She donates a large portion of the proceeds from her paintings to environmental organizations like One Tree Planted and The Nature Conservancy. Through her work she has been able to plant enough trees to offset the lifetime carbon footprint of herself, her husband and her two children.
